The Bigger Boat vision

That might sound like a tall order, but we’re getting there by ensuring every one of our clients gets the best possible return for their marketing investment. Flexible working

This isn’t a slave ship – we’re an easy-going, down-to-earth bunch and appreciate the need for flexible working. We officially man The Bigger Boat from 9am until 5.30pm, but many of our crew members have young families and adapt their hours to fit in with childcare. Time off for an appointment or working through lunch to head off early for a fun evening is also fine too. All we ask is that crew members offer a little of that flexibility in return and on the rare occasion we need all hands on deck after hours to meet a deadline, we always appreciate the hard work of our team.

Crew wellbeing

We made a conscious decision to base ourselves in the stunning, picturesque surroundings of Mirfield, Huddersfield. We’ve shunned city centre working for a calm and relaxing rural environment that we believe breeds productivity, positivity and, ultimately, the perfect work-life balance.

But in such a fast-paced industry, it’s important to recharge the batteries once in a while. We encourage our crew to down tools and take a break from the screen, whether that’s to fit in some exercise in the surrounding countryside over lunch or simply catch up on the sofas with another crew mate.

We also offer ‘work at home’ days, provide free on-site parking and ensure the creativity in the office ticks over nicely with as much coffee as you can muster and regular fruit bowls. And we’re not all work and no play here at The Bigger Boat – we all get together three or four times a year for team bonding and a right good knees-up. That might be go-karting, clay pigeon shooting or dancing the night away in Manchester.

Corporate social responsibility

We know that in the hugely competitive landscape of digital marketing, people are all too often heading to the bigger cities to take up roles. We’re keen to keep jobs in this area. We want to keep local talent here instead of watching it move out of the area and we’re doing that by introducing a number of initiatives. We’ve been into schools to discuss the industry and drum up excitement for it and we’re constantly striving to give small businesses a good start. We give regular talks on branding and we’re looking to invite businesses over to The Bigger Boat HQ to shadow us in our work and give them actionable takeaways that’ll really benefit their brand.
