2018 so far: TBB’s mid-year retrospective.
Life’s been ticking over nicely here at The Bigger Boat HQ. In fact, we’ve been so busy we’ve enjoyed a record increase in turnover in the last year. But what does that look like day to day? We’re already on the near side of Christmas and with six months of the year down, there’s no better time to review what we’ve been up to. From huge website redesigns to new appointments within the business, we take a look at the highs of 2018 so far.
Thinking big for Little Tikes
Little Tikes, one of the world’s biggest and most trusted toy companies, is approaching its 50th birthday so we started the celebrations early. We spent the latter part of last year and brought in 2018 overhauling the brand’s website to bring it up to date with its renewed direction and values and showcase the best practices in design. We not only amalgamated existing information from partner sites to allow for a smoother, easier user experience on one ‘brand hub’, we further revamped the site by creating some unique typography and custom drawings for a fresh and modern feel. Plus, user-generated content now features on the homepage – we’ve made the most of opportunities within social media to engage Little Tikes’ target audience, ‘millennial mums’. The mobile-first site went live in January and it didn’t take long for impressive results to come in. We quickly saw an improvement on the previous offering, and in those initial weeks the average order value went up by 30%, goal conversion rate increased by 130% and we saw a 35% increase in engagement. On cloud nine with Vapour
Cloud services provider Vapour came to us for a complete brand identity redesign. Vapour prides itself on breaking down the usually complicated process of buying cloud services and presenting it to customers in a way that’s simple and easy to understand. When we came on board, we knew our design had to stay true to that simplicity. A friendly but knowledgeable tone of voice and modern, vibrant design resulted in a happy client and a website that helps Vapour stand out from its competition. As the market leader in fire protection, CheckFire needed a website redesign that reflected that professionalism and authority – one that would help to build the brand’s online presence as well as showcase its products successfully. We updated the original, tired-feeling site and prioritised clean, corporate design that’s easy to navigate and provides a great user experience. And we worked hard to provide solutions to challenges encountered during the build. We migrated from Magento to WordPress for the build. All CheckFire’s data is handled by a CRM system, meaning we had to ensure all users and products could sync into our new website efficiently. We got the data as a CSV file and created a specific plug-in for WooCommerce to transfer the data from CheckFire’s system. Mission accomplished. The Bigger Boat gets a makeover
We worked hard behind the scenes to ensure all the elements of our new website were up to scratch ahead of its big launch in June. Visitors can now browse our most recent success stories in a dedicated Projects section, while the Captain’s Blog is the home of industry insights and expert opinion from our multi-talented team. All hands on deck as the crew grows
We’re proud to have made a couple of new appointments in 2018. As we take on bigger projects and ramp up our offering to clients, there’s an exciting buzz around The Bigger Boat Towers. Junior account manager Joe Vickers came on board in February, following a degree in business and management and a cool nine-month stint travelling around South East Asia and Australia. He’s spent his first few months getting involved in every aspect of digital marketing and looks after many of our accounts.
We’ve expanded our services to include copywriting and with that comes another shiny new crew member. Carrie Webb joined as a Senior Writer in May and is keeping busy putting years’ worth of journalistic and digital marketing experience to good use for The Bigger Boat and for our clients.
If the first half of 2018 is anything to go by, we’ve got a very exciting few months ahead of us. Watch this space.
