Shipmate Spotlight: Joe Vickers.

Account manager Joe has been handling client work and providing the office banter since early 2018. As we turn the spotlight on him, he lets us in on the career path that brought him here and what he likes to do in his spare time.

What quote do you live your life by?
Not so much anymore but back in my uni days ‘you can’t take it with you’ was the quote I lived by.

10 years ago, what did you think you’d be doing now?
I was interested in joining the police force back in the day. I attended a six-week insight course that included going around each department and seeing how it operated. However, as you can see, that never panned out and now I’m here!

What’s the one thing you couldn’t live without?
Crisps! I could live off them!

What are you listening to/ reading/ watching at the moment?
I am currently reading ‘The Fitness Mindset’. I enjoy going to the gym and want to learn more about nutrition and training to help with my personal development.

I’m struggling for things to watch at the minute because I feel like I’ve seen everything, so I’m back to watching Prison Break again for probably the fifth time. You just can’t beat it!

What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love sport. If I’m not playing it, I’m watching it. If I’m not doing that, you will probably find me eating out somewhere.

What’s your favourite thing about agency life?
I really enjoy the varied workload that comes with agency life. Each client is unique and they all have different objectives, which means you get to learn a lot of different things. I also love the atmosphere in the office and of course my crewmates!

What’s the coolest digital marketing trend you’ve seen lately?
I’m intrigued to see how voice search will progress and how we will adapt.

What’s your previous working experience?
My previous work experience is quite varied. I started off at Tesco, part-time while I was at uni, where I worked on the non-food department and the checkouts. Once I finished uni, I decided I wanted to go travelling so I got a full-time job building exhibition stands and labouring until I got enough money to go. When I came back, I quickly settled into life at The Bigger Boat and I’m loving what I do.

What are you working on at the minute that we should know about?
I’ve recently taken over the CheckFire account, which is one of our biggest clients, so it’s all systems go. I’m getting to grips with it and making sure we are providing the best service and results possible.

I also help out with Little Tikes, which is always busy with new and interesting projects coming in all the time.

What are you excited about during the next year at TBB?
I’m excited to continue to watch the business go from strength to strength and bring in new clients and projects. I’m looking forward to building good relationships with our clients and providing them with some good results over the next year. Personally, I’m looking forward to new challenges and gaining and developing new skills.
