We’re a Mindful Employer

We’re proud to announce that The Bigger Boat is a Mindful Employer! This accreditation is more than a title – it's a pledge and a philosophy. By signing the Charter for Employers Positive About Mental Health, we’re making a public declaration of our dedication to supporting mental health at work, regardless of where we are on that journey.

This step reflects our commitment to fostering a workplace that prioritises the mental wellbeing of our team members, and underscores our ambition to create a nurturing environment for all our staff. Here, we outline the values we uphold by signing the Charter, and highlight what that means for our crew.

Provide non-judgmental and proactive support

We recognise that mental ill-health can affect anyone, at any time. Therefore, we’re committed to offering support to our crew without judgement, and proactively addressing their mental health needs.

Avoid assumptions

We pledge not to make assumptions about a person's ability to work based on their mental health condition. Instead, we’ll create an environment that enables all crewmates to thrive.

Be positive and enabling

Our approach towards employees and applicants with mental health conditions will be supportive and empowering. We’ll foster an inclusive culture where everyone feels valued.

Support line managers

We understand the crucial role that line managers play in managing mental health in the workplace. Therefore, we’re dedicated to providing them with the necessary support and resources to fulfil this responsibility effectively.

Fair recruitment

We’re committed to ensuring fair recruitment practices in accordance with the Equality Act (2010), which includes not discriminating against individuals with mental health conditions.

Non-discrimination

We make it unequivocally clear that individuals with experience of mental ill-health will not face discrimination in any aspect of their employment with us.

Becoming a Mindful Employer is a significant milestone, but it's only the beginning of our journey towards creating a mentally healthy workplace. We understand that this is an ongoing process that requires continuous effort, learning, and adaptation. As we move forward, we remain dedicated to creating an environment where every team member feels supported, valued, and empowered to thrive.

We believe that prioritising mental health isn't just the right thing to do – it's essential for the wellbeing and success of our crew, and the business as a whole. Explore our crew perks to discover more ways we enhance our employee experience, and take a look at our current job vacancies.
