Shipmate Spotlight: Alison Lee

What quote do you live your life by?

“Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try.” Dr Seuss. I’m a firm believer that nothing is impossible, there is always a solution. You just have to make a start.

Ten years ago, what did you think you’d be doing now?

My life has changed a lot in the last ten years. I’ve got married and had two children. Back then I thought children wouldn’t change me and I’d return to exactly the same full-time role. Little did I know it’s not that easy juggling both. At TBB I’ve been lucky enough to find a role where I can do a good job at work and a good job at home without feeling guilty.

What’s the one thing you couldn’t live without?

Baby wipes. Who knew they were so versatile.

What are you listening to/ reading/ watching at the moment?

I used to do all my reading while commuting – something I don’t spend ages doing anymore. I now listen to audiobooks, it’s much easier to multi-task. I’m currently reading (listening to) The Keeper of Lost Things by Ruth Hogan.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I do a few exercise classes throughout the week and I enjoy running. If the weather is sunny I’m a fair-weather sailor with my husband. I’m not a huge fan when it’s cold.

What’s your favourite thing about agency life?

Being among people who share the same work ethic. I love being busy, there’s a huge variety in my day-to-day workload. Every day I learn something new, we have a laugh and there are no meetings about meetings.

What’s your previous working experience?

It’s been a while since I’ve been agency side but now I’m back I feel like I’ve never been away. I started in PR before digital marketing was really a thing and then moved into digital marketing during a long financial services stint.

What are you working on at the minute that we should know about?

I’m currently busy getting everything ready for this year’s Packaging Innovations show. One of our clients, Celloglas, will be exhibiting. We’ve come up with a quirky concept for the stand and a social media campaign to get visitors to interact with specialist print finishes including glow-in-the-dark and thermochromic (heat sensitive).

What are you excited about during the next year at TBB?

There’s so much going on, there’s never a dull day. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next.
