Company Shop Group
Company Shop Group (CSG) is the UK’s leading distributor of surplus products. Through a network of member-only supermarkets, it sells surplus stock – items that would otherwise go to landfill, anaerobic digestion, or animal feed – to members at discounted prices. Following our long-standing partnership with CSG on projects like the Luminary Programme, we were approached to create two new websites: one B2B and one B2C.

The challenge
CSG needed two distinct but cohesive websites:
A redesigned B2B website (companyshopgroup.co.uk) to better address business users’ needs, including how to become a member, the benefits of a corporate membership, and the type of surplus stock available. It would also provide key details into the history of the CSG, acting as an umbrella site for manufacturers, retailers, brands, supply chain partners, distributors, and CSR teams.
A brand new B2C website (companyshop.co.uk) to serve multiple functions, including signposting users to membership and store information such as store locations and opening hours, as well as in-store events. It would also serve as a portal to Zendesk for membership help and Facebook for membership offers or events.
Both needed a consistent design language, enabling a user-friendly front-end in addition to faster changes within the CMS.

Our solution
Starting with the B2B website, we re-platformed the existing content and moved it from a WordPress CMS to Statamic. We chose Statamic for its ease of use. Built on the world’s most-used PHP framework, Laravel, it has a flat-file structure, which leads to faster load times and fewer security vulnerabilities.
Statamic also gave us the flexibility to create a large library of component blocks, which we could replicate for design across both the B2B and B2C websites. What resulted was an award-winning corporate-facing website, showcasing the sustainability benefits of working with the CSG.
The B2B website boasts a clean, corporate design that captures CSG’s brand identity and tone of voice, with a distinct colour scheme and welcoming sans-serif font. The site is user-friendly, clearly signposting corporate customers to the CSG’s services and partners, with a mobile responsive design. In April 2025, the site achieved a prestigious Web Guru Award.

Meanwhile, the consumer-facing website was built with the same design language, structure, and components, but with its own visual identity to differentiate the two audiences. Both are instantly recognisable as part of the CSG brand, but the B2C website’s core focus is to acquire and nurture members.
This is achieved through clear CTAs and intuitive navigation, illustrated with warm, human-centric imagery. The site’s colour and tone reflect its retail-focused, customer-friendly approach, and provides an accessible shopfront for users.
While there is cohesion across both sites for ease of use, each has a unique message and audience, underpinned by fast loading speeds, bright visuals, and a simple UX.
